Adult Afghans

Today's crochet has evolved from our grandparents day. There is a world of yarns and even more colors to pick from. The patterns have also advanced from doilies, bedspreads and tablecloths to more and more afghans. It is only natural that the number of afghan patterns have increased as well. May you enjoy my patterns as much as I have enjoyed designing them.

Romantic Wedding Ring Quilt Afghan Crochet Pattern
Romantic Wedding Ring Quilt Afghan Crochet Pattern

The Romantic Wedding Ring Quilt Afghan is approximately 60" X 80" (152 cm X 203 cm). This afghan was inspired by the Double Wedding Ring Quilt. The Double Wedding Ring Quilt is the quilt that brought romance to the Great Depression. Even fairs got into the enthusiasm about this pattern sometimes putting Double Wedding Ring quilts into a special category. The interlocking rings celebrate love and union of two people weather it is man and woman or woman and child. It is believed that a couple with this quilt on their bed would never go to sleep cold and hungry. I personally find that it is like a "Dream Catcher" in that it only allows beautiful dreams and wards off bad ones.

The Evening Primrose Quilt Afghan is approximately 44" X 64" (112 cm X 163 cm). This afghan was inspired by the Evening Primrose which opens in the evening and on cloudy days. Since the 1600's the Primrose has been a symbol of prosperity, fertility, peace, abundance, beauty, productivity, resourcefulness and somehow they have the ability to open the gates of heaven.

Tumbling Blocks Quilt Afghan Blanket Crochet Pattern
Tumbling Blocks Quilt Afghan Blanket Crochet Pattern

The Tumbling Blocks Quilt pattern was first seen in Massachusetts in the mid to late 1800’s. My crochet version (approximately 48" X 70" 122cm X 178cm) uses light and dark yarns in a repeated pattern to create the illusion of falling blocks. The optical effects are simple to achieve by making strips of the main block and then joining the strips together. If you don’t tell anyone how easy it is they will think that you are surely gifted!
